Ballycarry's new '˜crafty corner'

“Ballycarry’s Crafty Corner” class is being held in the village community centre and the aim will be to see items recycled and given a new lease of life rather than being thrown out.

The new class will give local people lots of ideas and has gotten off to a good start with several enthusiastic ladies coming along with items to repaint.

Ideas from the first class have included repainting and stencilling old items of furniture, brightening up old magazine racks or shelves, and decoupage with glass jars.

In addition to locals from Ballycarry, others from Islandmagee and Eden are also taking part in the Crafty Corner class at the Fairhill centre.

It is planned to have a Saturday class during the day and possibly an evening class on a weeknight, twice a month from next month.

The proposal for the upcycling class was first brought to the village Community Association, which runs the centre, a few months ago and the group says it is delighted that what it sees as a very innovative initiative has now got underway.
