Ballycastle alert declared a hoax

A security alert in Ballycastle has ended after being declared a hoax by police and Army bomb experts.

The alarm was raised after the discovery of a suspicious object earlier on Tuesday.

The alert centred on the Quays Road area of the seaside town.

However, following examinations, the object has been declared to be a hoax and all roads have been reopened.

Posted on their North Coast Facebook, police stated: “The security alert at Quay Rd in Ballycastle has ended. A suspicious object was examined and has been declared a hoax. Roads now reopened.”
