Ballycastle and Moyle police round-up

OIL THEFTS: Police are reminding home owners to take simple crime prevention steps after a recent spate of heating oil thefts in the Ballycastle area.

The incidents included the theft of oil from a church in Ballinlea, discovered on 17 February. As well as asking the public to be proactive in preventing this type of crime, police ask that any information relating to the incidents be reported to them in Ballycastle.

AGRICULTURAL DIESEL: Agricultural diesel has been targeted by thieves in Ballycastle during two separate incidents in the Glendun Road area of Cushendun, the Moyarget Road area of Ballycastle during the course of last week.

Police, furthermore, received a report that a battery had been stolen from a tractor on the Ballybrack Road area of Cushendall during the night of Monday 18 February.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE: Police are asking for information following the report of criminal damage was caused to a house in the Castlenagree Road area of Bushmills on Friday 22 February.

Police believe that a lead ball was fired at the window during the incident, shattering the outer pane of a double glazed unit.

DRUGS ARREST: Police arrested a 23-year-old man in the Bay Road area of Ballycastle on suspicion of possessing class B drugs on Saturday 23 February. He has been released on police bail until 23 April.

HOUSE BURGLARY: Police are investigating a suspected burglary at a vacant house in the Carnduff Area of Ballycastle on Saturday 24 February. A back boiler was reported stolen and damage was caused to pipes in the property. Ballycastle Police are appealing for witnesses.
