Recently the P 7 students from both schools took part in two days facilitated by Corrymeela as part of the Personal Development and Mutual Understanding area of the curriculum.

Students from both schools took part in a range of activities to develop their understanding of international diversity and the benefits of having a diverse and multi-cultural society. The day culminated in an international café where the students got to meet people from a wide range of countries and learn about their culture. The second day focused on global inequality and the students got to examine how some countries are kept poor by unfair trade practices and developed countries exploiting their resources and not giving them a fair wage.

Mrs Ledger from Ballycastle Integrated added “It is important for our young people to think about the world beyond their own community and to consider what is happening globally. Mr Kinney from St Patricks and St Brigid’s also commented that “This project has been a real success.
