Ballycastle man raises thousands for Children in Crossfire

LOCAL Ballycastle man Dara O'hArtghaille along with eight other cyclists from Derry, Donegal and Omagh have raised thousand of pounds for Children in Crossfire projects in Tanzania and Ethiopia.

The group participated in Cycle Vietnam from 6th – 16th April. The challenge began in Hanoi in the North of Vietnam and the group cycled for six days through the amazing towns and countryside and meet the charming local people finally ending up in Sapa in the south of the country; covering a total of 370 km in 40c temperatures.

Sarah Gallagher Fundraiser said: “On behalf of all the participants I would like to thank all their family, friends, work colleagues and local businesses that have supported the participants through donations and sponsorship. The participants committed a lot of time and effort to raise their sponsorship in fact some of them surpassing their targets.

“The group undertook a fantastic and challenging adventure so that children in Tanzania and Ethiopia have the opportunities for a better future. I would personally like to thank each of the participants for their hard work and dedication over the last few months. The money raised will benefit our projects in so many ways and will be felt for many years to come.”

Children in Crossfire are currently recruiting participants for their upcoming running challenge to the Budapest Half Marathon on Sunday 5th September.
