Ballyclare choir hits all the right notes at annual concert

The Clare Chorale moved to the Boys Model School in Belfast for their 11th annual concert and produced a new range of musical entertainment, compered by freelance and BBC journalist, Kim Lenaghan.

The diverse programme gave the packed audience access to Bangor’s McClean family, led by dad Donard, who demonstrated immense versatility in their repertoire of traditional music and song. World champion drummers Mark Wilson and Lee Lawson gave a masterclass in precision drumming, including a Drum Challenge.

More than 30 girls from the Doogan Dance Academy, who are soon to perform in the House of Lords, performed interpretative dance and song, but the stars of the show were undoubtedly The Clare Chorale, led by Musical Director Sheelagh Greer, with their new selection of music.

Greatly appreciated by the audience, the Ballyclare choir’s programme of 11 pieces ranged from traditional music such as Danny Boy to several songs from the shows, a spiritual ‘Everytime I Feel The Spirit’ and ending with ‘Anthem’ from Chess.

Choir Chairman, Alan Strong expressed his appreciation to all the artists as well as the programme sponsors, Simpson Development, WJ Blair Accident Repairs and Little Treats.
