Ballyclare Road works completed

NI Water has said work on Ballyclare Road in Glengormley has been completed.

The company came under fire at a recent council meeting for the condition it has left the road in following works on the water mains.

Councillor Robert Hill urged the Roads Service to take action against the utility company for the “patchwork” restoration job carried out by NI Water.

The Roads Service said the work may not be complete and the surface was temporary in order to allow for future works.

However, NI Water has now said the work has been completed.

In a statement the company said: “The excavations required for the purposes of our water main rehabilitation works have been permanently reinstated in accordance with the required codes of practice.

“As stated within this specification, both NI Water and the contractor are required to guarantee this reinstatement for a period of two years. This guarantee period will continue until 2015.”

NI Water is currently carrying out works in the Rathcoole and Antrim Road areas as part of its water mains rehabilitation programme.
