“From a group of initial applicants, Caitlin, Jamie and their parents were interviewed by a panel from Newtownabbey Borough Council, which included the Mayor.

“Both Caitlin and Jamie were successful and this now means they will visit Gilbert, Arizona for three weeks in the summer and stay with other young people and their families,” a school spokesperson explained.

On their return home, Caitlin and Jamie will host students from Gilbert for three weeks, giving them a taste of life in Northern Ireland.

“Well done to Caitlin, Jamie and their families on their success. We hope they thoroughly enjoy this fantastic opportunity,” the school spokesperson added.
