Ballygally Hall open to locals and visitors

Caragh Reid is a local resident with 20 years of experience working in tourism with the National Trust and, as a heritage and education officer.

She has worked on projects such as the development of the Maritime Museum on board the Belfast Barge.

Caragh says: “It is a great privilege to be involved with the development of a venue in my own village”.

Recently, the hall ha sbeen the location for her Japanese classes.

“Having experienced first-hand the excellent facilities which Ballygally Hall provides, I am very excited about the prospect of being involved with the development of the Hall and of helping others to benefit from its facilities,” she said.

“I would like to develop relationships with local businesses, look towards the tourist market, and build links with ladies’ groups, community groups and historical associations.

As co-ordinator, she plans to offer its services to a wide range of community groups, businesses and even tourists.

Ballygally Hall was the outcome of a project begun in 2010 in an attempt to regenerate the area following the closure of the local shop.

The modern facility, which opened in 2010, comprises a sizeable main hall, separate conference room and state-of-the-art kitchen situated above a Spar shop.

“I would like to develop relationships with local businesses, look towards the tourist market, and build links with ladies’ groups, community groups and historical associations.

Ballygally Hall already offers a varied calendar of classes such as bridge, yoga, Tai chi, bowls, boccia, art and Japanese, while also hosting cultural and community events such as Anthony Toner and Belfast String Quartet concerts, flower arranging demonstrations and coffee mornings.

Ballygally Hall is available for bookings for corporate events, business seminars, birthday parties and community activities.
