Ballygally shows its cosmopolitan side

Ballygally Apartments has been reflecting on some of its more unusual visitors over the past year.

In January, Les Baird, a one-time Ballygally resident, brought a group of Flamenco dancers from Malaga in Spain to stay at the apartments and perform their show in Larne. These colourful dancers added an exotic touch to Ballygally and were heard giving impromptu Spanish lessons to A Level students in the local shop.

Meanwhile in May, the apartments were the temporary home to ‘The Lions of Zululand’; a troupe of dancers from KwaZulu-Natal. These young people from the poorest regions in Africa were performing their show to schools throughout Northern Ireland, earning their livelihood and supporting their families while promoting African culture. A special reception in Belfast city Hall was the highlight of their stay.

“Let us hope that 2016 continues in the same vein,” said manager Jennifer Riley.
