There were 154 marriages in total within the borough last year, with 38 per cent of these being civil ceremonies.

With the historic coast road castle accounting for 37 of the wedding celebrations, it is now listed as seventh most popular venue across the whole of Northern Ireland. The Old Inn in Crawfordsburn was the top choice, followed by Belfast Castle, Galgorm Manor Hotel (Ballymena), Malone House (Belfast), La Mon House Hotel (Castlereagh) and Clandeboy Lodge Hotel (Bangor).

Meanwhile, in Larne the average age of a groom on the day of his wedding is 35.2 years while the average age of brides is 31.5.

During 2009, 74 per cent of those married in Larne had neither previously been married. However, 62 per cent of couples married that year had lived at the same address before their wedding.
