Ballykeel improvement scheme welcomed

There was a welcome this week for news that an improvement scheme is set to begin on the B2 Ballynahinch Road at Ballykeel, Lisburn.

Lagan Valley MLA Brenda Hale said of the news: “This is a dangerous stretch of road and this scheme will help improve road safety at this location.”

Transport NI announced the £80,000 bend improvement scheme was due to begin on Monday (October 5).

The scheme is expected to be completed within two weeks.

The works are designed to improve the alignment of the bend and provide enhanced signing.

Drivers are advised that to ensure the safety of the public and contractors it will be necessary to close the road in the vicinity of the works.

Signed diversions will be in place and drivers are advised to leave additional time when travelling in the area.
