Ballylaw Farmers Group’s charity barbecue

Ballylaw Farmers Group is preparing for it’s charity barbecue night.

The event will take place in Ballylaw Community Hall this Friday night, July 20, at 9pm, and the organisers hope to raise £6,000 from the event to help .

The Farmers Group supports farm families in North Tyrone and for a number of years the group has also been involved in a number of charitable fundraising events as well.

Andrew Dunne, Secretary, said:“We have held a number of barbecues over the years raising over £32 000 for various charities. We regularly donate to Fields of Life and Cancer charities. We have become very familiar with the work of Fields of Life and the crucial help they can make to rural communities, providing clean water for example - even the smallest amount we raise could make an enormous difference.

“We have decided this year to focus our efforts on raising funds for another water well in East Africa. Our last Charity barbecue raised enough to construct a well in Awinyocoa in Northern Uganda but we would really like to raise enough to build two wells this time – that means we need to raise around £6,000.”

This may sound like quite a high aspiration but the Farmers Group BBQ’s have a reputation for attracting big hearted farm families who are keen to support this good cause.

Andrew concluded by passing on his thanks to all those who have supported the Farmers Group in their fundraising efforts over the years, including all those who have made donations of prizes, provided voluntary support prior to the event and in anticipation. We would also like to thank all the helpers and the management team who work so hard on the night, as well as the hundreds of people who have supported the events in the past. Without their support we would not be able to help those in greatest need.”

All donations are much appreciated and everyone is encouraged to come along to what promises to be a very successful and enjoyable event this Friday night in Ballylaw.
