Credit Union is mindful that the financial burden placed upon families at these times can be immense.

Speaking at the launch of the Coffee Morning, Paul Patton, Manager of Ballymena Credit Union said: “Summertime brings with it large financial challenges for many families in our community. Some of the great challenges during this time can be funding back to school and university costs. “In times of financial stress, some families turn to expensive sources of credit, such as money lenders, payday loans or credit cards and we at Ballymena Credit Union are urging members to talk to us first before going down this route.”

He added: “Ballymena Credit Union prides itself on its innovative, people focused approach to loans, savings and other financial services and continues to work for the mutual benefit and general welfare of its members.

“The Credit Union’s uniqueness lies in its difference to other financial institutions,” he said.

“We were delighted to see so many members come out to join us at our personal finance coffee morning and we would urge any member who is having difficulty planning or managing their household budget to come and speak to us at any stage and take those first steps towards effective budgeting and money management,” Paul added.
