Ballymena Floral Artists brightenup for springtime

FLOWER arrangers entered in the annual Ivan Watt Competition titled “Spring Miscellany” added more than a little brightness and colour to the seasonal theme of the event which is one of the highlights of the year for floral artists.

Winner of the Ivan Watt Trophy Victoria Robertson with judge James Burnside at a recent meeting of Ballymena Floral Art Group.

As well as attracting members of Ballymena Floral Art Group the competition once again brought forth competitors from across the regional clubs and there was a tremendous turnout this year again of 24 entries.

Judge James Burnside had the task of judging what he described as ‘a very high standard’ and was delighted to announce his winner as Victoria Robertson, a local club member. Another club member Maisie Millar took second place and Joan Magee was placed third.

Members of the club thoroughly enjoyed the floral demonstration by Roberta Orr entitled Spring Enchantment and are now looking forward to the Annual Dinner on Wednesday, April 17, at Leighinmohr House Hotel (tickets only) with floral demonstration from national demonstrator, Ross McGookin.
