Ballymena ‘Friends of the Royal Irish’ thank local public for support

THE BALLYMENA Branch of the Friends Of The Royal Irish Regiment wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the Community Christmas Carol Service held in First Ballymena Presbyterian Church in December.

The evening was well enjoyed by all in attendance but more importantly a huge success and those who came gave not only their support to Armed forces currently deployed in Afghanistan but donated their money most generously.

A cheque of £4500 was recently presented to the Lt General Sir Philip Trousdell KBE CB, Colonel of the Regiment, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Fund, while a £ 400.00 cheque was presented to Neal Somerville, Regional Co-ordinator NI for Help for Heroes.

The Organising Committee wish to thank everyone who played an important part in this event on the evening and in the planning before it, the Rev Wm Sinclair and The Kirk Session of First Ballymena Presbyterian Church for allowing the use of their Church for the service.

Finally the group asked to continue to remember and to support the Armed Forces as they continue to serve on their tour of Duty in Afghanistan and that we will soon be able to Welcome Home our Heroes in the coming months.
