Ballymena gets new area police chief

TEMPORARY Chief Inspector Bryan Hume has been appointed as the Police Service’s new Area Commander for Ballymena and Larne.

Temporary Chief Inspector Hume has 27 years service and previously served as sector Commander for Moyle. Over the years he worked in a number of areas, including Foyle, Magherafelt, Coleraine and Cloughmills. He worked as a Sergeant in Ballymena and Larne in the 1990’s.

Speaking about his new temporary appointment, Temporary Chief Inspector Hume said he is delighted to be looking after both areas and is very much looking forward to getting to know the community and his new colleagues.

“Policing has really moved forward in the last number of years and with the introduction of Our Policing Commitments, we are reinforcing at every level the need for a personal, professional and protective service to you, the public. I also look forward to working with the new PCSP’s in both areas and making both Larne and Ballymena a safer place for the community.

“There are of course challenges to be faced however our officers are firmly committed to ensuring the safety of you, your family and your neighbours. I look forward to getting to know the Larne and Ballymena communities better in the weeks ahead.”
