Ballymena police seize drugs worth £120,000

DRUGS with an estimated street value of £120,000 were seized by police in Ballymena on Friday.

A police spokesperson said ecstasy worth about 50,000 and herbal cannabis valued at 70,000 were recovered during the operation.

The address where the drugs haul was made has not yet been revealed for operational reasons and inquiries are continuing.

There have been no arrests so far in connection with the find.

Speaking yesterday (Monday) about the successful seizure, Inspector John Allen of the Ballymena Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Police have reduced the harm to Ballymena residents by removing a substantial amount of illegal drugs.

“The issue of drugs is a high priority for the PSNI and the public. That is why we continue to take a proactive approach in tackling the illegal drugs trade.

“We would appeal for any information concerning the sale of illegal drugs as we value the co-operation that the public give us in dealing with these offences”.
