Ballymena to host charity bikers’ night on June 16

BIKERS from throughout the province are expected to roar into Ballymena town centre in large numbers on Thursday, June 16, for the first ever Charity Bike Night in the borough.

Being organised by Ballymena Town Centre Development Ltd in partnership with local traders, the revved-up event will take place from 6-9pm and will be focussed mainly on the Ballymoney Street area.

Officially launching the night on his return from the Isle of Man TT will be William Dunlop who is coming along to support the chosen charity, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

Just prior to leaving for the TT, William said of the forthcoming Bike Night: “This is a great opportunity for Northern Ireland bikers to come together, socialise, have fun and raise funds for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, a charity which is close to my heart”.

There will be a charity raffle, a free prize draw with a £100 voucher donated by a local motorcycle shop and a competition for best looking bike and rider, which will be judged by William Dunlop himself.

Local traders have got right behind the event, providing raffle prizes, vouchers for use in local shops and putting on special promotions on food and refreshments.

Amanda Bennett, Town Centre Development Manager, sees this as a great opportunity for Ballymena to host an event for bikers from throughout Northern Ireland.

“This is going to be a fantastic event and I am very grateful to William Dunlop and all of the local traders who have so enthusiastically engaged with the planning of this evening,” she said.

“Everyone is welcome to come along, bikers and non-bikers, old and young, to join us in celebrating the motorcycling community and raising funds for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice”.
