Ballymena turns out for Giro d’Italia

The people of Ballymena defied heavy rain to bring a great atmosphere - and lots of pink colour - to the route of the Giro d’Italia as it passed through the town this morning.

The worst downpour came around 10.15am when the promotional ‘caravan’ made halts at various points along the route to hand out pink ‘clappers’ and much needed pink ponchos.

As the time for the racing cyclists neared, the kerbsides began to fill up and by the time the actual race arrived there was a superb atmosphere.
