Ballymoney and Moyle jobless ‘hike’ rise

THE numbers of people out of work in Ballymoney and Moyle has risen compared with last year, according to figures released by the Labour Market for February 2013.

The figures show that in February in the Ballymoney Council area, a total of 1,088 people were jobless - that’s 797 men and 291 women.

Those figures represent an increase of 23 people or 2.2% compared with February 2012.

However, compared with January of this year, the number of people unemployed has fallen by 36 or -3.2%.

Meanwhile, in Moyle District Council area, the number of people out of work in February was 738 - that’s 544 men and 194 women.

Those numbers represent an increase of 63 people or 9.3% compared with February 2012.

However, as with Ballymoney, the change since January this year, showed a downward trend with a reduction of 33 people or -4.3%.
