Ballymoney Church of God - making a difference in Kenya

JESUS said: "I was hungry and you fed me..." (Matthew 25:34-40)

Imagine that you didn’t know when or if you would eat again; imagine that your children didn’t have milk to drink or that they couldn’t attend school because you couldn’t afford books or pencils; imagine that you were so poor or isolated that you couldn’t access any type of health care. This is exactly how people in some of the most remote and isolated villages in Northern Kenya live. The future is looking so much brighter thanks to 6,000.00 raised by a project developed by Ballymoney Church of God.

Ballymoney Church of God has a long association with Kenya and is involved in demonstrating God’s love in a very practical way through a diverse range of projects. One element of his missionary outreach is their Christmas ‘alternative gift’ campaign. Now in its third year the campaign has attracted support from far and wide with many people interested in helping others less fortunate than themselves. A tremendous amount of money has been raised to make a difference to the lives of children and families who struggle with the impact of absolute poverty on a daily basis. The result was amazing and the aid ranged from irrigation, educational and health supplies to emergency food and livestock.

A cheque was presented to Richard Gunning from ‘Reach the Unreached Ministries’ on Sunday morning. Ballymoney Church of God works in partnership with ‘Reach the Unreached Ministries’ who have an office in Kenya. This partnership arrangement ensures that 100% of funds raised are transferred directly to Kenya where Rev. Peter Karangu arranges the distribution. The church will be provided with photographs of the aid being circulated to the isolated communities and these will be shown on the church’s large screen.

Pastor Jonathan Payne thanked Mrs Hilary Kyle for putting so much time, commitment and hard work into making this year’s Kenyan Christmas Appeal such a great success. He explained how well the project had progressed adding, “the response to the Christmas appeal was again truly overwhelming. Due to the generosity of lots of church members, their neighbours, families, friends and work colleagues we can make a positive impact on people’s lives in a very tangible way. The church believes that we have a responsibility to help others and in doing so are demonstrating biblical teaching and principles. What a difference this tremendous amount raised will make.”
