The group meet with a representative from Action Cancer for a weekly weigh in, presentation on cancer prevention and healthy lifestyles and a physical activity session. The charity also sent weekly information focusing on women’s needs including stress reduction, recipe ideas, female specific cancers, alcohol and cancer, the menopause and much more.

Mrs Iris McCleery from Ballymoney Borough Council said: “ As a local employer we have a focus on the health and well being of our employees. Last year a group of our male employees completed the Action Man programme with a number of participants being able to achieve weightloss, reduce cholesterol and blood pressure levels and raise awareness of male cancers.

“We are delighted that this pilot for ladies has had the same positive impact with our female staff achieving weight loss, reduced cholesterol and blood pressure levels, and their awareness raised about female specific cancers.

“The Big Bus visited Council premises on 23rd January 2014, offering breast screening and MOT health checks which was very well received.”
