Ballymoney Male Voice Choir returns for 71st annual concert

The Ballymoney and District Male Voice Choir once more brings us a feast of Male Voice Choir singing on 21st March at 7.30pm in the John Armstrong Hall in Dalriada School.

Their special guest will be the Mezzo Soprano Helen Aiken accompanied by Donal McCrisken and the Concert will also feature the Traditional Group from Dalriada School.

Helen Aiken, a farmer’s daughter, hails from Coleraine and previously attended Coleraine High School. She then went to Queen’s University in Belfast and graduated with a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Music, coming top of her year and thereafter was awarded a scholarship to complete her Master’s Degree under the International soprano Angela Feeney.

Her evening of singing will be accompanied by Donal McCrisken, who is a Belfast based teacher and Musician with many years experience as a Pianist, Accompanist, Conductor, Examiner and Adjudicator. Since 1999 he has been Conductor of Capella Caeciliana, one of Ireland’s most exciting chamber choirs.

Dalriada Traditional Group is one of eight extra-curicular Groups rehearsing weekly in the school. airs. Their concert will commence with the music of O’Carolan and then a selection of Irish and Scottish airs, jigs, hornpipes and reels ending with a selection from Riverdance.

The Ballymoney and District Male Voice choir will bring a wide range of Male Voice singing under their conductor Margaret Brown. The concert commences at 7.30pm. Tickets available in Gaults Shop of Church Street or from Choir members.
