Ballymoney RNLI holds Service of Thanksgiving

RNLI Ballymoney Branch held their Annual Service of Thanksgiving in the Church of Our Lady and St Patrick.

The congregation wa greeted by Committee members of Ballymoney RNLI and as they entered the beautifully refurbished church a floral lifeboat made by Bernie Reilly was on display. The beautiful floral arrangments in the church, in the lifeboat colour,s were made by Mrs Cushanan.

Rev. Francis O’Brien conducted the service of worship and preached a most moving and inspirational sermon. The first letter of St. John was read by James Leslie DL, President of Ballymoney RNLI and the Prayer of the Faithful was read by Anne McCusker, Committe Member.

The most wonderful music was led by the choir from the church of Our Lady and St. Patrick, with organist Aaron Loughrey.

The offering, which amounted to £608, was taken up by crew from Portrush Lifeboat.

At the supper, following the service, Robin Cardwell, Operations Manager of the lifeboat, spoke and gave information on “call outs” etc of Portrush Lifeboat.

Branch Chairman Pat Crossley thanked Rev. O’Brien and his congregation for the warm welcome they had given in hosting the Service of Thanksgiving and for the co-operation of the hall committee and ladies of the church who assisted with the supper.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and is supported entirely by voluntary donations.
