Ballymoney Rotary Club ensures blood goes around!

The Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS) has welcomed the support of Ballymoney Rotary with its campaign to increase the number of blood donors in the area.

Charles Kinney, Donor Services General Manager commented, “Coming after a very challenging period over Christmas and the New Year, NIBTS is very fortunate to have this help in promoting blood donation. This campaign, at local level, will help ensure there is sufficient blood available to help patients in need”.

The next blood donation sessions in the Holmes Memorial Hall, Ballymoney are on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th of February – from 2.00 to 4.00 & 5.15 to 8.00 pm each day. New donors are most welcome.

Local Rotarian, Chris Henderson added, “Our members in Ballymoney Rotary know how important it is to the local community to have a safe and sufficient supply of blood. Nobody really knows when it will be needed, but if it is, we want it to be there”.

The Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service based at the Belfast City Hospital site has the responsibility for the collection, testing and issue of 62,000 donations each year. With almost 1,000 donation sessions held at 240 locations spread throughout the province, the Service needs to recruit around 9,000 new donors each year.
