Ballymoney Schools can go global

SCHOOLS in Ballymoney - primary and secondary - are encouraged to avail of an ongoing programme managed by the British Council by attending a workshop in Ballymoney this Wednesday from 9.30-3.30pm.

The Global School Partnership enables schools to develop links and partnerships with schools across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America.

These links can cover a multitude of subject areas and allow or personal and whole school development. With an increasing use of and emphasis on technology with all our schools, Global Schools is an ideal opportunity to become involved in a project which builds bridges and broadens horizons on a scale that is as exciting as it is broad.

The programme promotes a global dimension in school curricula, raise awareness of global development issues and build relationships between schools. At a local level, this is a perfect opportunity to explore issues connected to the Eco Schools programme or indeed Fairtrade.

Declan Donnelly, Ballymoney Borough Council, (pictured above) said: “Global Schools is an exciting opportunity for schools in Ballymoney to develop the concept of world citizenship and broaden an awareness of issues confronting children and young people across the world. It’s also an opportunity for young people in our Borough to share their experiences on a world stage. This is a very useful addition to the Eco Schools programme and allows schools to vary their approach.”
