Ballymoney UPRG hit out at GAA exhibition

MEMBERS of Ballymoney UPRG (Ulster Politicial Research Group) have hit out over the decision to hold a GAA exhibition in the Ballymoney Town Hall.

In a statement to the Times, a spokesperson for the local UPRG group questioned why the local museum was chosen to host the event rather than Dunloy, Rasharkin and Loughgiel.

The exhibition is opening tonight (Tuesday).

The spokesperson continued: “To our knowledge no club plays in Ballymoney nor has a club ever played in Ballymoney.

“Why not have it in one of the hot beds of GAA in the North Antrim locality? Dunloy, Rasharkin or Loughgiel could no doubt, support an event like this.

“The people in Dunloy, Rasharkin and Loughgiel do not want our culture in their areas so why should they be facilitated in ours?” he concluded.

The Times contacted Ballymoney Borough Council but they did not want to comment on the matter.
