Ballynakelly residents make last ditch plea for council to overturn waste plant approval

The application for an anaerobic digester in Ballynakelly, will go before tonight’s meeting of Mid Ulster Council’s Planning Committee.

A Ballynakelly Residents spokesman said: “Once again this application is back up before the Planning Committee with a recommendation for approval by Planners. We trust that following their site visit, at which they were able to observe the close proximity to homes and children’s play park of the proposed location and also the current levels of noise pollution that residents endure from the site, the Committee will make the correct decision and refuse the proposed plant. The entire community are united in our opposition and if this gets approval, the noise and general nuisance of the extra traffic servicing the site will have a lasting, negative impact on the area. The plant which the committee went to visit in Co Down was on a farm, which is the proper location for such a plant. We have asked all our local elected Councillors to represent our views and concerns, that is after all what we elected them to do.”
