Ballynure fish kill: More than 100 trout dead after pollution incident

A major fish kill in Ballynure has been reported to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).

The incident, which has affected the Castle Water and the Six Mile Water, has left over 100 junior trout dead.

It was reported to the NIEA and members of Ballynure Angling Club at approximately 10am yesterday (Wednesday).

The source of the pollution is still to be confirmed and an investigation is under way.

Chair of the Six Mile Water Trust, Jim Gregg, has praised the quick actions of the members of the public who reported the incident, as well as the quick response of the NIEA officers.
