Balnamore PS pride

PRIZE days are always an occasion for celebration but at Balnamore Primary School there was even more reason to smile with two major awards proudly handed over.

Six pupils shared in the Sentinus Junior Industry Challenge - a Young Innovators competition - and the much coveted Ulster Scots Flagship Award for primary school excellence in Ulster Scots was also on display.

No wonder that principal Jackie Morrison could reflect on a very successful term as she addressed the Board of Governors and a large attendance from parents and friends.

The occasion also marked the departure of caretaker, Delano Steele, who had been at the school for more than 11 years.

He said: “I was a pupil here and now I’m finishing my working life here.”

Delano was thanked for his excellent work by Ms. Morrison and wished all the best. His replacement is Alistair Robinson.

And there was a bunch of flowers to say thank you to teacher Stephanie Kenny who is moving to Carnmoney Primary School after three years.
