Balnamore search ‘part of wider operation’

On Thursday two motorcycles, a jet-ski and a quad were seized in Balnamore and a 39-year-old man was arrested and appeared in court in Ballymena on Saturday where he was remanded in custody.

He was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and converting criminal property and transferring criminal property.

Police said the search was carried out under the Proceeds of Crime Act and the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Police in Ballymoney said a “significant” amount of cash was seized in mainland UK and two arrests made on the mainland as part of a wider investigation.

A PSNI spokesman in Ballymoney said: “This operation demonstrates that the PSNI will leave no stone unturned to protect the public from those who are prepared to peddle illegal drugs or commit other serious crime.”

Meanwhile, in other news police are appealing for information in relation to the following incidents.

* Between Saturday April 9 and Monday April 11 diesel was stolen from a tank at Knock Road, Dervock. Some damage was caused to the tank.

* Tuesday April 12 - 12.15pm - A member of staff was assaulted at Ballymoney Railway Station. A male made off on foot.

* Tuesday April 12 - 9.30pm - Damage was caused to a glas panel of a door at a house at Carnany Park. Police say there was an ongoing disturbance in the area at the time.

* Wednesday April 13 - In the early hours a 43-year-old woman was arrested at Queen Street, Ballymoney, and charged to appear at court in Coleraine on May 9 accused of possession of an offensive weapon and attempted criminal damage to a police car.

* Wednesday April 13 - In the early hours a burglary took place at the garden centre at Greenhill Road, Ballymoney. Entry was gained through a window and a small amount of cash was stolen. Police believe it happened around 4.30am.

* Thursday April 14 - 12.15am - A burglary occurred at a shop at Moneyleck Road, Rasharkin. A male, wearing white trousers and a black-hooded sweatshirt, made off on foot with a small amount of cash. Police say this type of crime is unusual in Rasharkin.

* Friday April 15 - A 29-year-old man was arrested for non-payment of fines and taken to Maghaberry Prison.

* Saturday April 16 - A window was broken at a house at Braeside Park, Dunloy, either late on Friday are early on Saturday.

* Saturday April 16 - Two 19-year-old men from north Antrim were arrested on Saturday in connection with allegedly passing counterfeit money following an incident at Stranocum. The men were released on bail to May 19. Police are asking the public to be wary of the potential for counterfeit notes, in particular, Northern Bank £20 notes.

* Saturday April 16 - Police received a repot of 350 litres of home heating oil being stolen from a house at Kilmandil Road, Cloughmills, some time in the pst week.

* Saturday April 16 - Police received a report 300 litres of home heating oil was stolen from a house at Shelton Road, Loughgiel, between 10am on Friday and 7pm on Saturday. Police are appealing for anyone who sees suspicious activity around their homes or neighbour’s homes to to get in touch with officers. They want people to be alert to strange vans or goods vehicles which could potentially carry oil.

Police say the public should get as much detail as they can about suspicious vehicles including the make, model, colour and registration number and get it to them as quickly as possible.

* Sunday April 17 - A 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly driving with excess alcohol. He was charged to appear at court in Coleraine on May 13. The arrest followed a collision on the Pharis Road at 5.30am in which there were no reports of injuries, police said.

* Sunday April 17 - Between Friday evening and 5pm on Sunday a glass pane was broken in the front door of a house at Brookvale, Bendooragh. Police believe a brick was used.

* Monday April 18 - A burglary was reported at Route House on the former site of the Route Hospital in Ballymoney. Entry was gained to a mobile building of the property owned by the Northern Health Trust and a computer was stolen.
