Banbridge man spat at police

A 33-year-old man who spat at a policeman and tried to head-butt another officer admitted two assault charges last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

He was Stephen Mulligan, Brookdale, Banbridge, and the offences happened on January 24 this year. The court heard police went to a domestic incident at Brookdale.

Mulligan was arrested and on his way to the police vehicle he spat at the back of an officer. He also attempted to head-butt another officer.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said the defendant had been the subject of a suspended sentence which had expired. He adjourned the case until April 23 for a pre-sentence report.
