Banbridge woman seeks volunteers

Banbridge woman Teresa McDonnell is looking for volunteers to help collect money at the Big Collection weekend on June 13, 14 and 15.

Teresa is a Team Leader for the collection, which is organised as part of a major National Charity Partnership between Diabetes UK and Tesco. The partnership aims to make life better for those with the condition or at high risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

Teresa was the Team Leader at Tesco Banbridge last year and raised a fantastic £1,938. She had a great team of collection volunteers last year including teens and young children.

Teresa said: “I signed up as a Team Leader for the Big Collection weekend because I have a son Rhys who has Type 1 diabetes. I am passionate about raising awareness of diabetes and Diabetes UK. I volunteered at the Big Collection weekend last year and enjoyed it so much I wanted to do it again. “I am looking for enthusiastic, approachable and reliable volunteers to help collect donations in Banbridge. If you are sociable and want to give something back I would recommend being a volunteer at the Big Collection weekend.”

Volunteers can collect for however long suits them, from one hour to a full day on 13 - 15 June. The collection will take place from 9am until 6pm on 13 and 14 June and 10am until 4pm on 15 June.

The collection weekend takes place at the end of Diabetes Week and aims to raise £300,000 to support the 3.2 million people living with diabetes in the UK.
