Band of Royal Irish at ‘The Braid’

THE Band of the Royal Irish Regiment are back in town on Friday 21st October when they return to perform at the Braid Centre (Town Hall).

While many will have seen the Regimental Band in its more formal role as it led the homecoming parade through the streets of Ballymena a few months ago, this will be the first Concert in the Braid Centre since the closure of the Depot in St. Patrick’s Barracks, and the interest in the town, and beyond, is high.

All proceeds from this Concert will be going to the Royal Irish Regiment Benevolent Fund to help and assist those in need.

The Band will also be joined by the Bugles, Pipes & Drums, whose unique sound is guaranteed to encourage audience participation. Because of changes, cutbacks, the current MoD policy regarding Military Bands and Regimental priorities and responsibilities it is no mean feat to obtain the services of the Regimental Band, Bugles, Pipes & Drums.

The organisers would very much like to thank those local businesses who supported this event, but most of all sincere thanks are extended to Ballymena Borough Council and, in particular, to Arts Officer Mrs. Rosalind Lowry for her continued support, assistance and friendship, without which this Concert might not have been possible. T

he Concert will commence at 8pm and tickets are now on sale and can be purchased from the Tourist Information desk at The Braid Centre. Tickets are priced at £12 each (no concessions) and although they have only recently gone on sale they are selling fast. A short historical booklet (paperback) has also been produced and tells the story of the Regiment from its formation in 1689 through until the present day and includes all the antecedent Regiments. These will be on sale on the night at a cost of £3 each.

Further information regarding tickets for this Concert and any/all events can be obtained by contacting The Braid Ticket Office Hotline on - (028) 2563 5900. Subsequently you can TEXT ‘Shows’ to 80480 or go online at
