Band parade

A COLOURFUL band parade involving more than 1000 bandsmen and women will be held in Irish Street next month.

On Wednesday, June 9, the East Bank Protestant Boys Flute Band’s annual parade, which has quickly become one of the major Waterside carnivals, will take place.

The evening starts with the Omagh Protestant Boys Flute Band playing a selection of music at Dennet Gardens in the Irish Street estate. The main parade moves off at 8.30pm led by the Omagh Protestant Boys FB, and will proceed along the 1.5 mile route via Dennet Gardens, Mourne Drive, Finn Gardens, Bann Drive, Sheskin Gardens, Woodburn Park, Silverbirch Ashburn Crescent, Blackburn Crescent, Lisnagelvin Road, Woodburn Park and finish back in Dennet Gardens.

A spokesman said: “On display will be over 20 of the finest flute and accordian bands from all over Northern Ireland. Come along and bring the family, it’s all free.”
