Bank to host Children’s Fun Day for cancer charity

A Children’s Fun Day is taking place at the Northern Bank‘s Lisburn branch on April 21 to raise funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

Making a special guest appearance will be Genevieve the Goat, who is the star of one of UFC’s children’s books and will help with some entertaining storytelling.

The fun and games will take place all day, with storytelling between 10am and 3pm. Other activities include an Easter colouring contest, ‘name the teddy’ and ‘guess how many sweets in the jar’ competitions, a fancy dress event and games. There will also be refreshments for both children and adults.

Northern Bank’s Peter Hunniford, who is co-ordinating the fun day said: “The UCF is our charity partner for 2011 and we will be holding a series of fundraising events throughout the year. We thought Easter was a great opportunity to start the ball rolling and do something for our customers and their children. Given that we are supporting UCF’s Family Support Service we thought it was apt to begin fundraising with local children and their families.

“The fun day is open to everyone. There’s no charge but we are asking supporters to make a donation to the charity. Every penny raised on the day will be matched £ for £ by Northern Bank.”

Suzi McIlwain, UCF’s Community Fundraising Officer, said, “It’s going to be a brilliant day, so please come along and join in. Lisburn people have always been so generous towards UCF and we know they will turn out in force to support this event too.”
