Banned for not having cover

A 23-year-old man was banned from driving for six months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for not having insurance.

Arthur Kuceuski, Corcrain Drive, Portadown, was also fined £300 for the offence and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

A £100 fine was imposed for not having a vehicle test certificate.

The court heard that on May 4, 2013, the defendant was stopped while driving on the Moyraverty West Road in Craigavon.

He confirmed he was the owner of the car and when asked for his insurance he admitted he did not have any. The vehicle was seized.

A solicitor representing the defendant said he was building up a record for driving offences.

He explained that Kuceuski had just purchased the vehicle and had not got round to getting insurance. He was already disqualified until October of this year.

Imposing the ban Deputy District Judge Gerry Trainor said the defendant had a conviction for no insurance just two months before this offence.
