Banned from all the bars in Banbridge

Nicole Crossey, Brookfield Avenue, Banbridge, admitted disorderly behaviour in Bridge Street in the town on July 5 this year.

She was fined £250 and bound over in the sum of £500 for 12 months to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Judge Paul Copeland also prohibited her from being in licensed premises, including clubs, pubs and hotels, for the next 12 months.

Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday that at 1.50am in Bridge Street there was a disturbance involving a number of females.

Crossey was being aggressive towards another female. She was abusive and used foul language.

Police warned her about her behaviour but she continued to be abusive. She did calm down and asked police if she could speak with the other person and they agreed but she became aggressive again.

Crossey told police she had done nothing wrong and it was not against the law to fight with your friends.

Judge Copeland said this was ‘outrageous and disgraceful’ behaviour.

A solicitor representing the defendant said she had been out drinking with friends and after a disagreement she fell out with one of them.

Too much alcohol got the better of her, he added.

The solicitor said she had been in a bar on Bridge Street and had been drinking for some time. She accepted when she consumes alcohol her behaviour gets out of hand.

Judge Copeland said this was unacceptable behaviour and Crossey needed to look long and hard at her alcohol consumption.
