Banned from driving for four months

A WARINGSTOWN man who was already disqualified from driving received another ban last Thursday at Craigavon court.

Twenty-one-year-old Kyle Gardiner, of Cambrai Drive, Waringstown, was fined 250 and banned for four months for driving without insurance on June 22 last year.

He was also fined 50 for not having a licence and 50 for not having a vehicle test certificate.

When stopped by police at Lake Road in Craigavon he told them he had taken out insurance. He was asked to produce his driving documents.

Later he called at the police station and produced insurance which had been taken out on June 22, four hours after he was stopped.

A solicitor for the defendant said he had applied for a provisional licence and thought he was covered.

He added that Gardiner’s girlfriend had phoned about insurance that morning and he thought he was covered. He was currently disqualified.
