David Fitzsimmons, whose address was given as Pinebank, Craigavon, admitted driving without having insurance on May 23 this year.

He was fined £300, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and given six points.

With six points on his licence he was given a six month ban on the tot up
system.

The court heard that he was stopped at 9.45am on the Eastway and indicated that he did have insurance.

However, at a later date he admitted he was not covered on the day in question.

A barrister representing the defendant said the insurance had been cancelled because of a missed direct debit payment.

He added that his client understood there was a procedure where he would be given a chance to pay but would say he was not informed.
