Banned on the tot up system

ON the tot up points system a young Waringstown man was banned from driving for six months last Thursday at Craigavon court.

He was 18-year-old Conor Doonan, of Main Street, Waringstown, and he was fined 200, with six points, for not having insurance on December 29 last year.

He already had eight points on his licence and the extra points put him over the 12 point limit so on the tot up system a six month ban was imposed.

The court heard that police coming out of Lurgan station saw Doonan on a scooter which did not have its lights on. When stopped he admitted he did not have insurance.

A solicitor for the defendant said his insurance company would not renew his policy because of the eight points.

He had left the scooter in for servicing and was stopped while he was taking it home.
