Banner draped from home in Somerset

Police arrested a man in Somerset Drive on Thursday evening on suspicion of disorderly behaviour.

The man was arrested after bottles were thrown at police vehicles at around 10.20pm. The man was later released on police bail.

“Local neighbourhood police, who were in the Somerset Drive area of Coleraine on the afternoon of Thursday 15 May, engaged with a group of local people who had gathered outside a house.

“A banner was draped from the front of the house.

Police discussed complaints that they had received about the banner with the resident of the house, who then decided to remove it.

No arrests were made at that time but police enquiries are being made.”

The Times understands that the banner made reference to the Kevin McDaid trial.
