Barazina to perform in Ballymoney

BARAZINA Children’s Choir who performed at the switching on of the Christmas lights in Belfast this year will perform with ‘Let’s Sing Gospel’ community choir at the charity concert in First Ballymoney Presbyterian church on the 25 and 26 January.

The children’s choir was formed just over a year ago in September 2011. Barazina means ‘Creative Abundance’ and these young people are bursting with talent, energy and creativity. The choir currently comprises over 40 young people (aged 7-14) from 25 schools within the north coast area.

Led enthusiastically by Denise Rosborough they have been hugely popular with children in the Ballymoney area since Denise’s vision became a reality. Their inaugural concert in Ballymoney town hall was attended by a large crowd of enthusiastic parents and friends and the success of the venture has led to a number of exciting invitations to sing.

An example of their innovative approach to singing was their ‘flash mob’ performance at the Tower Centre in Ballymena when the children suddenly appeared from a number of shops in the middle of the centre and performed an impromptu version of ‘We’re God’s Amazing Children’ a high energy song accompanied by dance and Rick Swan on trumpet.

The cross community choir will support ‘Let’s Sing Gospel’ in First Ballymoney at what is surely a unique event.
The organising committee spokesperson commented: “It is unlikely that Ballymoney has experienced any music event like this in the past. The combination of the enthusiastic children’s song and dance with the power of ‘Let’s Sing Gospel’ and the audience participation will surely be the event of the year in Ballymoney.”

The charity concert by Let’s Sing Gospel’ last January was completely sold out and to meet the demand this year the choirs will be singing on the two nights. This will also give the audience uninterrupted views of the stage.

Tickets are available at RH Gault, Church Street, Ballymoney, McAuley Bookshop, Linenhall Street Ballymoney, Causeway School of Music, Railway Road, Coleraine, Faith Mission Bookshop railway Road Coleraine or from choir members.
