Barbecue aids Smiles

A barbecue at the Morrison family home near Liscolman has boosted the coffers of The Smiles Foundation, a Christian charity that has projects in North West Romania.

Organised by Barbara Morrsion, representing the Development Association of The Smiles Foundation for Northern Ireland, with much help from friends, the event proved an outstanding success.

Families targeted are in desperate need of a helping hand and the cornerstone of the work is the Family Care project which currently supports nearly 200 fmailies on a monthly basis with food packages, medication and social assistance.

Judging by the turn out of the public at the Morrison home, there is much sympathy for the plight of those less fortunate in life and a substantial sum was raised.

Smiles has grown into one of the largest Mission charities in Romania with more than 1500 people helped every day. The organisation now has an annual budget for Operating and Capital Development initiatives in excess of £1m.

Barbara Morrison would like to thank everyone who supported the barbecue and dance on the night particularly those who helped with the catering as well as the general public.
