Bare faced -and it’s all for charity...!

Five young Dervock people are among thousands across the country who have embraced the latest charity drive to raise awareness and funding for Cancer Research - and they’re totally bare faced about it!

Tracey McIntyre, Kathy Wilmont and Megan McIntyre all posted pictures of themselves on Facebook without make up while Danny McLernon and Ray Laverty got into the spirit of things by taking the unusual and brave step of wearing loads of make up and, in Ray’s case, donning clothing he wouldn’t normally be seen in.

The idea is to take a ‘selfie’ then nominate friends to follow the lead followed by a £3 donation to Cancer Research and, specifically, for breast cancer.

So far, the campaign has raised in excess of £2million and, according to Tracey McIntyre, everyone she knows is taking part.

Three of the girls work in Dervock’s Centra store and have been getting plenty of comments and praise from customers for their efforts.

At first some people were reluctant to take part but the sheer volume of nominations prompted them to think again and even though many of the girls were reluctant to go public without make up they realised it was for a very worthy cause.

Tracey McIntyre told the Times: “It shows you the power of social media for creating awareness and raising money for a good cause.

“Everyone should do it because it’s for a great cause.”
