Barefeet kids come to Ballymoney schools

Amos, Gift and Bernard were in the Ballymoney area as part of Barefeet Theatre group - which was founded by Ballymoney man Adam McGuigan.

Dalriada School hosted the trip and were left in no doubt as to the talent, enthusiasm and playfulness of the performers who were all helped by the theatre group.

Then at Kilmoyle Primary School invited the acrobats to take a work shop with two different classes and a fun time was had by all.

The drumming and singing in their best Ballybogey/Zambian accents was a delight to hear! Some kids got to be real acrobats for the hour - memories they will treasure forever.

The three young men received a standing ovation from the junior pupils at Dominican College in Portstewart where they gave a spectacular performance at the Dominican Drama festival.

“Back in 2006 Adam set out with a one-man street show to south Africa visiting different orphanages,” explained Adam’s mother Ann.

“He then met with some people working with street children. He began to do some workshops and organically Barefeet was born.”

On Wednesday 10th July at 7pm at the East Strand car park in Portrush, everyone is invited to take part in a Barefeet beach walk followed by refreshments at the Arcadia cafe.

A prize for the best dressed ‘barefoot’ and many more generous prizes plus other Barefeet surprises. Donation, adults £5, children £1.
