BARK all set to celebrate its second anniversary

THINGS are going from strength to strength at BARK - Benvardin Animal Rescue Kennels, on the outskirts of Coleraine.

Later this summer the rescue centre will be celebrating two years as a registered animal rescue charity - and they want you to join the celebrations!

BARK takes unclaimed and unwanted dogs from Council dog pounds.

They are a charity, and are entirely dependant on public donations.

Since their conception last August, over 350 dogs have been re-homed.

The centre, located at the former Safari Park, is in the second phase of refurbishment.

To mark their two year milestone, Louise Neill and her team of volunteers at Bark have organised an open day, on Saturday, August 4.

Events already planned include a dog show, demonstrations plus much more. The fun kicks off at 1pm, but we’ll bring you more details nearer the time.

Next month, on Saturday, June 9, BARK are inviting Coleraine Times readers to join them on a sponsored dog walk.

All dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a lead. Entry is £10 and sponsorship forms are available via the website www.benvardinkennels.com. This event is being organised by Claire and Ian from Alpha1 dog training and is being sponsored by Jollyes.

A special appeal

Can you help Ben?

He’s a four year old Springer Spaniel.

He’s been at Benvardin since January, and he’s looking for a new home (he is pictured centre, right)

Ben’s owner died so the staff at BARK agreed to look after him until a new owner comes along. Ben is totally deaf, but he is very playful, he loves toys. He’s fully vaccinated and neutered - all he needs is a new owner.

If you think you could give Ben a new home log on to the website for more details, or call at Benvardin. The opening times are Tuesday to Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
