Barry’s inspires hospital artwork

Pupils from St Joseph’s College and Coleraine College were inspired by the exciting shapes, colours and patterns which can be found inside Barry’s Amusements in Portrush.

The pupils from both schools have been working together as part of the Shared Education Programme, managed by Queen’s University in Belfast. The programme has been funded by the International Fund for Ireland and the Atlantic Philanthropies.

Lending her hand to the pupils on the project has been local well-known textile artist Frankie Creith Hill. Frankie worked closely with the pupils as they used the shapes, colours and patterns to produce a number of textile pieces.

Eddie Aicken, Chairman of Causeway Hospital Artscare Group welcomed the opportunity to display the pupils work in the hospital.

He said: “We are pleased to be able to offer the pupils the opportunity to display their work in the hospital where many visitors can view the artwork and enjoy it.

“Visitors will recognise many of the scenes depicted in the artwork from Barry’s Amusements”.
