Batty about Bats in Moneyneena

Bats will be on the agenda at the Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership expert-led event, Batty about Bats, on Friday, May 3 at 8:15pm in Moneyneena.

Northern Irish bat species are thought to be vulnerable and their numbers may be in decline. The Batty About Bats evening will start with an indoor session where you will get an insight into bats and a chance to tune your ears to the sound of their echolocation calls using bat detectors.

This will be followed by a walk, where participants will hope to spot and hear pipistrelles and Daubenton’s bats.

This bat walk is the first of 24 hours of events for the Spring in the Sperrins Celebration of Nature on May 3 and 4.

The community hall, An Ráth Dubh, in Moneyneena will provide a base for the activities and a starting point for the bat talk and walk at 8:15pm on Friday, May 3.

On Saturday, May 4 there will be a range of other events and exhibitions, as well as a treasure hunt and a competition.
